8mm, Super 8, and 16mm Movie, and Home Video Services Transfers.
The very first thing to understand is what I am NOT. I am NOT a high-volume transfer business. I process every item by hand, using equipment specially designed for the work. If you want impersonal and the cheapest, you don’t want me. If you are looking for somebody who will treat your family treasures with care, and offers a service at a fair, competitive price to create a great and lasting value, read on…….
My Custom Movie Transfer Service:
I create beautiful DVD movies to play on your TV and PC from 8mm, Super8, 16mm film (optical sound track or silent).
Processing starts by digitizing each item on the edit workstation.
For all 8mm and Super 8 movies true telecine equipment is used. Each reel is trimmed, brightness and contrast and colour is corrected for optimal image quality. Optional addition of music and personal narration makes your project into a family history. No job is too big or too small.
It’s Not Magic -I Just Make The Effort To Do Things Right.
The before and after pictures at the right are actual edit workstation screens taken from a 8mm film transfer job. The original had faded toward cyan (very common) and was dark. Applying a couple of corrective tricks I routinely use, I was able to produce a result that looks pretty close to new.
Amazing!
The typical 2-hour DVD or VHS movie of your film and/or videotapes will hold about 1,800 feet of 8mm/Super8 movies, about 2,500 feet of 16mm movies. I do not recommend exceeding 2-hours on a single DVD, because at that point the image quality will begin to noticeably degrade as the length increases.
Movie Transfer Cost:
Transfer Service:
My 8mm/Super8 movie transfer prices are similar to the original cost for the original film and processing, adjusting for inflation. The footage charge covers the cost of splicing, repairing film, digitizing the film to my editing system, trimming, filtering, colour correcting and the whole process of turning it into a continuous piece for transfer to DVD or VHS.
The cost is 24c per foot of 8mm/Super movie film. Typically, a 50foot movie costs $12
After digitization and editing, it is possible to add a commentary and background music – this adds somewhat to the cost. This service is an optional extra.
16mm movie transfers are priced differently. For a quote, please contact me.
I have a $52 minimum small job price.
